Thank you for checking out our page! The Movers and Shakers of Fresno are a Parkinson's support group in Fresno. We meet once a month to learn more about topics to increase our understanding of Parkinson's disease, address common challenges, learn ways to improve overall quality of life, and build a strong community. We meet the first Saturday of every month at 11:00am (we take off for July and December). We look forward to welcoming you to the group at our next meeting!

From Doctor to Patient: A personal experience

Michael Habibe, MD is an emergency medicine specialist in Fresno with over 32 years of experience in medicine. Dr. Habibe will be joining us to share the experience of being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease as a physician. He hopes that in talking about his own personal journey of coming to terms with the diagnosis that others can learn from what he has gone through. He will also share important insight on how to thoroughly research new treatment options and how to spot scams so you and your loved ones do not become victims.

Dr. Habibe graduated from Uniformed Services University of The Health Sciences in 1992 and is affiliated with Saint Agnes Medical Center.

In addition, Dr. Flores will join us to discuss the UCLA PEG-GUT Study, the aims of the study, how to enroll, the latest findings, and what that means for the Parkinson's community.

Located about a mile south of the Walmart on Shaw and Brawley

Traveling North on Brawley from N. Weber:

W Swift Ave will be your first right as you come around the bend where N Weber becomes Brawley. We will be on the left side of the street, across from the mailboxes. Look for the Move Up Health and Fitness sign on the front of the building.

Traveling South on Brawley from Shaw:

Travel about a mile south on Brawley from Shaw. We are the last left before the bend where Brawley turns into N Weber; there is a Rico's Monutment at the opening of the street. Once you turn left onto W Swift Ave, we will be on the left side of the street, across from the mailboxes. Look for the Move Up Health and Fitness sign on the front of the building.

Parkinson's Research and Clinical Trials in Fresno

Investigation of motor control and motor learning principles in individuals with Parkinson's disease

Adam Perez, a student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Fresno State University, will be studying the effects of electromyography (EMG) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) on freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease.

Watering the brain to help it grow

UCLA PEG Brain and Gut Study

UCLA is currently enrolling participants in their brain and gut study. The study aims to better understand the role of the gut in brain health and how this might provide future therapeutic opportunities for Parkinson's disease. To enroll, contact Dr. Krel at: (559)222-7246

The Tempo Studies

The TemPo Studies will evaluate the investigational drug tavapadon as a treatment for Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Bhatia is director at Neuro Pain Medical Center and the principal investigator for clinical trials.
