Getting Started!

Client doing bird-dog exercise

Hi Everyone!

This is my very first post, ever, so bare with me as I learn the ins-and-outs of blogging. In fact, if you can refer me to some resources to help me on my way, please leave them in the comments. I thank you in advance!

Allow me to introduce myself. I am an independent personal trainer in Sacramento and have successfully worked for myself since 2010. Currently, I meet with clients in their homes, providing them with a fitness program to help them achieve their goals. With specialties in Cancer Exercise Training, Posture and Mobility Training, and a few others, I focus on improving health and quality of life through fitness. The shape that takes really depends on the client.

For example, many of the cancer survivors that I work with suffer from extreme fatigue and have lost their ability to ‘keep up’ with everyday chores and activities. In building their strength and stamina, they are able to regain a sense of normalcy, being able to resume activities that most of us take for granted- like carrying a laundry basket.

For other clients, their fitness program gives them the energy to play with their children or the ability to get up off the floor when playing with their grandchildren. Sometimes the focus is on athletics and improving their golf or basketball skills. It just depends on what is important to the client.

My job is to understand how the body functions and how to use exercise to improve those capabilities. Sounds pretty straightforward, but it can get complex when you factor in injuries, surgeries, and all the unique muscle imbalances of every individual. That’s the part that keeps me on my toes making every day new and exciting.

The best and most important part for me, is that I love what I do and  the people I work with. It’s what keeps me motivated. Imagine watching someone struggle to achieve their goals or their dreams. You guide them, encourage them, keep them on track. Then, one day, it happens. They make it, overcoming that obstacle with your help, and you get to share in the glory of their victory.  It’s a beautiful thing.

Well, that’s a bit about me and what I do.

As this is my first post, I would love some feedback, recommendations, and requests for future posts. Thank you for visiting my blog and I look forward to reading your comments!
